Zhu Qingyu, Professor at Nanjing University Law School, is an expert in civil law, the methodology of jurisprudence, German modern civil history, and legal philosophy. Since 2009, Professor Zhu has also held a concurrent post as a council member of the China Institution of Civil Law Studies, and since 2014, as an adjunct professor at East China University of Political Science and Law. From 2001 to 2014, Professor Zhu worked at the Institution of Civil Law Studies at China University of Political Science and Law. He is a chief editor of the Sino-Germany Private Law Studies series. His seminal works include a monograph on civil law, a journal article on the concept of legal act, a journal article on the rationality of legal code and general principles of civil law, and a journal article on autonomy of private law and norms of civil law. Among his teaching distinctions, he was awarded the special award for outstanding teacher at CUPL in 2010 and 2013. He holds bachelor’s, masters’ and Ph.D. degrees in economic law, and civil and commercial law.
